If you like comedy, London is the place to be. The capital is a hub for comedians, long holding an irresistible pull for funny people not just from England but from around the world. The unique and slightly odd British sense of humour has enticed comedians for decades, with underappreciated performers like Bill Hicks first finding widespread acceptance in the capital.

So, if you’ve got a mind to take in some comedy, read on and find about three of the best to see this month.

The Boat Show Comedy Club

As you might have guessed from the name, this particular venue is one that floats. Held on a paddle steamer – the ‘Tattershall Castle’- The Boat Show Comedy Club is an experience all of its own. Not only do you get to see some great comedy, you also get a great view of London as you move along the Thames.

Shows tend to feature three or four comics, with the occasional headliner popping in for an extended set. It’s an awesome venue – aside from the fact that it’s a boat! – with lots of room and air-conditioning. It almost feels like you’ve infiltrated some super-secret event you’re not supposed to know about. Better yet, the Victoria Embankment location is only a short Tube away from Montcalm Shoreditch London Tech City.

Performers in the past have included Jack Whitehall, Milton Jones and a host of other well-known names. The venue also has a reputation for putting on the best rising comedians, so you get to see the stars of tomorrow right now.

EastEnd Cabaret

Racy, lewd and totally hilarious, Eastend Cabaret is a great night out and only a short hop from Montcalm hotels in Shoreditch.

The focus is, as you would expect from a cabaret show, on music and comedy, with the two intertwining throughout the show. Your hosts will be Bernie and Vicky, two strange, alluring and riotous ladies who spin wildly from full-on songs to insane skits and back again.

It’s an amazing night out and one of the best cabaret shows you’re likely to see in the capital. There’s always a wink and nudge with everything the pair do and both are stellar performers. Don’t miss it!

Tina C at Underbelly Festival

Running from April until September, the Underbelly Festival is a Southbank fixture, offering an array of circus, comedy and cabaret shows. And it’s not far on the Tube from Montcalm Shoreditch London Tech City, so you’re well placed to check it out.

One of the performers you won’t want to miss this July is ‘country star’ Tina C. Full of outrageous pronouncements and inflated ambition, Tina C is actually the brainchild of London-based performer Christopher Green. But the creation is so well-realised that you will find yourself forgetting that Tina C isn’t a real person and become totally caught up in her act.

Tina is often outrageous and often profane, but her comedy and musical stylings are so good that you will be in stitches. Check out Tina C on the 26th July.
