Finding a quiet safe haven is important when you’re on a work trip. If your days are full of meetings and decisions, you need somewhere you can simply forget about everything and unwind. Happily, Shoreditch is home to many amazing cafes and coffee shops which offer just that.
So, if you’re on a work trip and need a local port of call to get your coffee fix, review the day and relax, read on.
When Prufrock Coffee says they take coffee seriously, they really mean it. Operating since 2009, this venue has become a go-to for Shoreditch residents seeking a superior cup of joe – and now you can join them.
It’s only a short jaunt from the M by Montcalm, and Prufrock Coffee offers a range of coffees made in genuinely innovative ways. When you visit, you’ll have the chance to sample halogen beam-heated coffee, which makes a regular coffee-press feel positively old-fashioned. The Japanese pour-over filters make for a wonderful, smooth and rich cup of coffee, and once you’ve tried it you may not want coffee made any other way.
It’s also a relaxing, welcoming place and so perfect for taking a load off after a hard day’s work.
Ozone Coffee Roasters
A very classic-looking space, Ozone Coffee Roasters offers amazing coffee in a nicely appointed, relaxing environment.
The décor feels and looks like a classic diner mixed with subtle contemporary flair, and the enclosed booths are a nice way to simply relax with a cup of coffee and a book. It’s the type of place you could take up residence in for the day, ordering from the very good food menu and simply watching the world go by. When you’re done for the day, you’re only a ten-minute stroll from your room at the M by Montcalm.
Growing from their New Zealand surf town roots, Ozone Coffee Roasters has developed over time into one of the very best coffee shops in Shoreditch, and it’s easy to see why.
Just a short hop from the M by Montcalm and right on the famous Brick Lane, Kahaila Café offers ethically sourced coffee and food – with the coffee particularly noteworthy.
Whilst the food is great – particularly the fresh cupcakes – it’s the cheap and very well-made coffee that has people coming back in droves. The café covers all the bases as far as classics are concerned and the hot chocolate is a particular treat. And it’s close by to your room at M by Montcalm when you’re ready to hit the sack.
One of the best, defining features of Kahaila Café is its stripped-down – but still inviting – décor. It’s the type of place you might take a particularly trend-aware client to impress, but it’s equally as good for a post-workday relax. It’s utterly cool, affordable and delivers great food and coffee – what more could you ask for?
