What is Meltdown Festival?

Meltdown Festival is an annual London festival which focuses not only on music, but on live artistic events. This years’ Meltdown Festival is being curated by music legend Nile Rodgers, and looks set to be one of the best yet, perfect for guests at the M by Montcalm London who are eager to engage with London’s creative community this summer.

The festival has built a name for itself after being championed by some of the most talented figures in the music industry, with the likes of David Bowie, John Peel. Nick Cave and Patti Smith all having previously taken the reigns in curating everything that happens. Nile Rodgers is noted as one of the most influential figures in music over the last 40 years, having overseen the development of some of the era’s most iconic albums.

Who’s playing at Meltdown Festival?

The full line-up is still being developed, but there’s still already plenty to look forward to while you enjoy special offers at Shoreditch hotels this summer. With the likes of Brazilian pop superstar Anitta, and London’s own KOKOROKO, visitors can also expect to see Mali-based Sonhoy Blues and surreal bass player and vocalist Thundercat.

This eclectic billing helps bring together talented figures from across the globe, and the event will also feature performances from Rodgers himself, at a CHIC show which helps to recreate the drama and style of infamous nightspot Studio 54. Other figures to look out for include pop-producer SOPHIE, and a vinyl-only evening from James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and David and Stephen Dewaele of Soulwax.

Where is Meltdown Festival?

The Meltdown Festival is set to take place at London’ Southbank Centre. The centre provides a home for a wide array of great music and events, and is renowned as one of the city’s most prominent artistic venues, perfect for guests eager to explore London’s creative scene while staying in Shoreditch London.

When will the Meltdown Festival be held?

The festival will run from Saturday 3rd August 2019 until Sunday 11th August 2019. This means a full nine-days of entertainment for music and culture fans, and the sheer scope of the event helps to make it one ideal for lazy summer days.
