There are lots of different neighbourhoods for you to explore when you’re in London and each one is as exciting and interesting as the one before it.
One of the best things about the Big Smoke is that there are so many places for you to explore and the variety of boroughs there are means that there is definitely an area of the city to suit anyone’s tastes.
Shoreditch is one area in the city that we think will appeal to a lot of people, because it’s quirky and there is a great independent culture that gives it a nice local feel that is somewhat contrary to the fact that London is such a big cosmopolitan city.
There are so many things for you to do when you’re in Shoreditch that we’ve decided to outline some activities for you to enjoy to help you explore everything it has to offer.
It’s almost impossible to have a bad meal when you’re in Shoreditch and there are cuisines from all over the world represented in this area, so you can basically eat in a different country for every meal that you have during your holiday.
For the most important meal of the day, we suggest The Breakfast Club, which is a popular brunch spot – expect queues when you go and don’t forget to have a Bloody Mary. However, if you’d like breakfast with a twist, try Dishoom for delicious Bombay flavours.
Brick Lane Beigel Bake is where you’re going to find the most delicious salt beef bagels in the city and better yet, it’s open 24 hours a day every day.
When you’re doing a lot of walking around and exploring, you’re going to need something to help keep your energy up and the best way to perk yourself up is by having a delicious cup of coffee.
Luckily, there are lots of coffee shops for you to choose from in Shoreditch, including Shoreditch Grind, which has excellent cappuccinos and an Espresso Martini with a kick if the time of day is right.
Lady Dinah’s Cat Cafe is a huge attraction, not just because it’s known for excellent afternoon tea but also because there are literally cats everywhere for you to hang out with and cuddle while you enjoy your snacks and drinks.
Drinking and dancing
Shoreditch is the place to go at any time of day. From breakfast to lunch and late-night clubbing, you can’t go wrong when you’re here – it’s a place for everyone to enjoy!
When it comes to cocktail hour – whatever time that might come around – we recommend you head along to The Book Club, which is not only incredibly cool but also serves up imaginative cocktails by the glass or jug.
The Shoreditch Butchery might have metal walls and an interesting name but it doesn’t actually serve cuts of meat, instead serving drinks that are so good there’s regularly a queue out the door. It’s guaranteed to be busy but you should enjoy this because it makes the atmosphere brilliant.
When it comes to summertime and enjoying the weather, you should take to a rooftop bar and in particular check out The Rooftop at Boundary which has a nice civilised atmosphere. You can still go here in winter because there are lots of blankets and heaters to make sure you stay cosy.
