If you love rummaging through rails of clothes from days gone by and buzz off finding hidden treasures, read on to find out about some of the best vintage clothing stores you can visit in Shoreditch.
East End Thrift Store
Unit 1A, Assembly Passage, London E1 4UT
Don’t be deceived by the gritty exterior of this place. Once you pass through the large aluminium doors, expect to be greeted by an array of glorious clothing, some of which dates all the way back to the 1920s. Spend the afternoon trying on dresses and jumpsuits or shirts and shorts. You could easily get lost for hours in this treasure trove, and when it’s time to pay you’ll also be delighted to learn that most of the items are priced under £10, making it one of the more affordable vintage shops in London.
14 Hanbury St, London E1 6QR
Fan of the retro look? You’ll be in your element here then, where you’ll be able to scour through colourful shirts and other gems from the 1950s. The shop is pretty large and airy, perhaps because it has so much stock that caters to both genders, including shoes and accessories. The frontage is decorated with a Union Jack flag and once you’re inside the shop you can expect to be bobbing around to some classic tunes from the 50s and 80s. Who wouldn’t want to spend an afternoon in this place while kicking back at Suites in Shoreditch?
101 Brick Ln, London E1 6SE
Some of the best fashion stores and labels have grown from tiny stalls, and the same is true for Rokit Vintage, which started out as a market stall in Camden and is now hailed as one of the most prominent vintage labels in London. There’s four shops spread out across the city, but we think your best bet is visiting this one on the legendary street Brick Lane. Be sure to check out all of the brand’s ‘recycled’ items, which is basically when they transform an item into something completely different. It’s super quirky and is sure to get you noticed when you check into your room at the M Montcalm Tech City.
Hunky Dory Vintage
226 Brick Ln, London E1 6SA
You might not have found this store otherwise as it is right at the end of Brick Lane, but if you fancy venturing further afield it is well worth a visit. When inside expect to find 1970s suits and eye-catching accessories. It’s cute, quaint and the staff are really attentive.
