London’s Favourite Breweries

The craft beer trend has exploded in recent years, with more and more independent breweries creating a unique range of delicious beers to suit every palette.

London has played a big part in this new wave of breweries, and there are several noteworthy venues that are well worth a visit during your stay at our rooms in Shoreditch.

That’s why we’ve created this useful and informative guide to help you track down the best London breweries, so you know exactly where to head to get a taste of some of the best beers that our UK brewers have to offer.

Bianca Road Brewing Co

Founded in 2016, the Bianca Road Brewing Co has become famous for its west coast American style ales and cosy taproom venue. It holds regular sofa sound sessions combining live music with delicious beers.

Well known for a refreshing and tasty range of IPAs, the tropical IPA beer is a firm favourite with visitors who enjoy a dash of sun-kissed shores with their beer. For those that prefer a darker, full-bodied ale with a kick, the Red Rye IPA offers a hoppy and aromatic brew with a bitter tang that’s hard to resist.

To reach the Bianca Road Brewing Co from the Montcalm Shoreditch, take the Northern line from Old Street Station to Bermondsey Station. From there, the brewery is located a short stroll away, so you’ll be at your destination in just over 20 minutes.

Anspach & Hobday

For another brewery located in the same district as the Bianca Road Brewing Co, Anspach & Hobday offers a wide range of experimental IPAs, pale ales, stouts and porters to try.

The relaxed and contemporary taproom offers a light and airy space to sample a few of the brewery’s beers with friends, and the onsite shop also gives you the opportunity to purchase a couple of your favourites to take back to your rooms in Shoreditch to enjoy later on.

Beavertown Brewery

Owned by the son of Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant, the Beavertown Brewery has enjoyed amazing success thanks to its consistently good product offerings and quirky can illustrations. A great place for alfresco drinking in the sun during the warmer months, the large taproom can easily accommodate bigger groups of beer fans who flock to the brewery seven days a week to taste some of the refreshing and heady brews on offer.

If you happen to be a group of football fans, you can also sample a few of the Beavertown delights at their sister microbrewery which is located at Tottenham Hotspur’s football ground – perfect if you want to combine your love of beer and football.

To get to the Beavertown Brewery from the Montcalm Shoreditch, take the train from nearby Liverpool Street Station, and you’ll be enjoying a cold glass of artisan beer in just over 35 minutes.

Big Smoke Brew Co

Brewing in an old stable at the back of the Antelope pub in Surbiton, the great thing about the Big Smoke Brew Co is that the vast majority of its ales are completely vegan-friendly – perfect if you are staying at our rooms in Shoreditch with friends with specific dietary requirements.

Producing quality beer in kegs, casks and bottles, head inside the Antelope pub to give a few of the vegan beers a try before purchasing a few bottles to take back home with you.

Flavourful, punchy and free from any nasty additives and preservatives, kick back and enjoy the London pub atmosphere and give this fantastic range of vegan beers a whirl for yourself.

Getting to the Big Smoke Brew Co in Surbiton from our rooms in Shoreditch is well worth the journey, so head to Commercial Street Station and hop on the South Western railway which will have you at the brewery in just over 90 minutes.

Brew by Numbers

For something a little closer to the Montcalm Shoreditch, Brew by Numbers offers a unique fusion of Belgian, Australian and New Zealand brewing styles to create a tasty and highly drinkable selection of artisan beers. Featuring a tasting room for groups and individuals that gives you the chance to find out a little more about the ingredients and brewing processes used to create the final product, there is also a large taproom with a great atmosphere. We suggest enjoying a few of your favourites before heading off to visit a few more breweries in the area.

Located just a short Tube ride from our rooms in Shoreditch, try a tasting panel before selecting a few beers to enjoy when you get home after your stay in London.

Camden Town Brewery

With an array of firm favourites and new blends to try, no tour of London’s breweries would be complete without a visit to the Camden Town Brewery.

With a cool and quirky home located under a railway arch, this brewery has become popular with locals and visitors alike thanks to its communal seating arrangements and fabulous selection of high-quality beers which are sure to suit any taste. Showcasing six beers that are available all year long as well as selection of seasonal brews with limited availability, this brewery bar also offers brewery tours, dining events and parties. It’s well worth keeping an eye on their website for details of upcoming events taking place during your stay at the Montcalm Shoreditch.

Better still, the staff that pull the pints also help to brew them, so even if you don’t have time for a tour of the brewery, you can still ask a few questions about the drinks on offer as you wait to be served at the bar.

Another bonus is that this particular brewery is just a short Tube ride away from your accommodation, so you can easily pay a few visits to the Camden Town Brewery during your stay in the city and still have plenty more time to discover what else London has to offer.
