See the sights of London by bus


When it comes to the famous sights of London, what normally springs to mind? Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Downing Street, the London Eye etcetera etcetera.

However, while thousands of people flock to have their picture taken outside these iconic landmarks there is another famous feature of the capital that are all around – the London bus. When people think of London they see the famous black cab and the red Routemaster bus that take visitors to every corner of the city.

With the Underground and regular train services, London is one of the most well-connected cities in the world and the buses form a key part of this. Regular services travel across and some even run 24 hours a day ensuring that you can get back to your hotel even when having a late night.

City Road is serviced by a number of key bus routes and here is where you can go on these lines.


Jump on the 43 from outside your hotel and head south to the terminus at London Bridge. From here you can visit a host of great sights around the area. There is the famous Borough Market not far from the station while you can also visit St Paul’s Cathedral and the Monument to the Great Fire of London.


Catch the 205 heading towards Cleveland Terrace. This will take you towards King’s Cross Station, ideal for visiting the British Library and is also a short walk from Great Portland Street. Baker Street and Harley Street are also on this route for those wanting to indulge in retail therapy.


From Old Street station, the 214 will take you into the heart of Camden where you can experience all the quirky markets. Stay on the route and you will reach Kentish Town which has numerous bars and restaurants, great for a night out.


The 394 route is ideal if you are looking to have a relaxing night in Shoreditch. This short route will be able to drop you off in the heart of the area in a matter of minutes. From there you can experience everything this trendy and happening part of London has to offer.
