Here at M by Montcalm, we like to do tea properly. If you do too, you’ll appreciate these three words…

Afternoon. Tea. Academy.

Technically, this also includes cake, and who isn’t a fan of the sweet treats that go so well with a good cup of tea?

So, we are delighted to let you in on a well-kept secret…

A brand new, one-of-a-kind afternoon tea experience is being launched by the award-winning Plate team here at M by Montcalm on 11 May.

Kicking off the Afternoon Tea Academy in style (because that’s how they roll), Plate have collaborated with world-renowned, family-owned tea company P.M. David Silva & Sons, who will be joining the launch on 11 May from 12 noon to 2pm.

This wonderful company was founded in the mid 1930s with the aim of providing tea drinkers with the finest, skilfully hand-picked flavours using knowledge passed down through generations. Tea is often blended from multiple producer countries, however the tea in PMD tea is natural and single origin – a rare quality these days. It’s truly astonishing to actually taste ‘proper’ tea – an entirely different taste to the invariably unremarkable everyday tea we settle for. This is tea as it should be.

The Afternoon Tea Academy is the perfect opportunity to celebrate and appreciate good tea, accompanied by beloved British classics. All three tiers of the traditional afternoon tea stand will be cleverly paired with delightful PMD tea including Planters’ Mistress, Inverness Estate Orange Pekoe and Golden Garden Estate Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings, and each indulgent course comes with detailed flavour notes.

An expert from P.M. David Silva & Sons will be speaking at the Academy to provide an insight into the fascinating history of afternoon tea (it really is incredible), the company history, and their passion for fine tea.

Of course, no afternoon tea academy would be complete without irresistible accompaniments. Plate’s award-winning chefs have pulled out all the stops to offer you handmade Raspberry and frangipane tart, Rhubarb and custard mille-feuille and White chocolate and olive oil macaron (cue the tummy rumbles). It doesn’t end there. Plate’s talented pastry chef will also be on hand to help you re-create the ultimate afternoon tea at home, to really impress friends and family.

Experience it all for just £39.00. Tickets are limited, so be sure to purchase yours as soon as possible via the following link:
